Abstract

La articulista recuerda que en la década de los 70 los comunicadores de América Latina jugaron un papel trascendente, al cuestionar la concentrada estructura de poder de los medios de comunicación y su poca o ninguna articulación con las necesidades educativas y socio-culturales de los países latinoamericanos; apoyaron el Nuevo Orden Internacional de la Información y la Comunicación; desarrollaron una intensa acción en favor de las Políticas Nacionales de Comunicación que buscaban la democratización de ésta. Durante la década de los ochenta despunta la televisión, es el medio que más ha crecido; 126 nuevas estaciones. Surgen nuevos formatos, lenguajes y contenidos. Se afianza la comunicación alternativa y popular.
