The purpose of this work was to train people to investigate with empirical research methodologies, and at the same time to evaluate the feasibility of applying in Chile scientific measurement instruments developed in another cultural space. For that, nine people without training tested and improved for four months the tools for the classification of journalistic frames in political and governmental news. A content analysis of news texts served to test the feasibility of measuring the generic frames proposed by Semetko & Valkenburg (2000) in national reference media. The experience proved to be relevant to correct existing instruments and to improve the working dynamics of a team of coders making it more efficient and more likely to achieve valid results.References
