This article explores the notion of media witnessing as a figure of historicity in three complementary reflexive movements. First, key elements of studies on media witnessing are recovered. Then, the concepts of historicity and figure are reviewed in order to articulate them with that of media testimony. Finally, we observe some important relations in the uses of the word testimony to apprehend, at least in part, its implications as heuristic operator in communication studies.References
