Orígenes históricos de CIESPAL

Con gran visión de futuro, la Organización de las Naciones Unidas para la Educación, la Ciencia y la Cultura (UNESCO) venía estudiando con empeño la forma de cooperar de alguna .manera en la soluci6n de los múltiples problemas que afrontaba el periodismo en el mundo. De esta inquietud nació la idea de crear Centros Regionales de Periodismo, como se los denominaba en aquel entonces. Así lo manifestó la asamblea de la Unesco en su Conferencia General reunida en París en 1955. Para concretar la idea resolvi6 encargar a la Dirección General de la Organización estudiar la posibilidad de la creaci6n de tales centros, con la finalidad de promover el desarrollo y mejoramiento de los medios de comunicaci6n colectiva en el mundo.
