Abstract

Hay ausencia de reglas legales que defiendan la actividad periodística. En América Latina está controlada por políticos y empresarios. Este escenario alienta la corrupción de los comunicadores y condiciona a la prensa independiente. En muchos países se utiliza la venta de impunidad: en posesión de una noticia se negocia su no publicación a cambio de fuertes sumas de dinero. La corrupción de los periodistas es un fenómeno ambiental que no podrá erradicarse sin el establecimiento legal del fuero periodístico y la consagración del habeas data.
