El argentino Masetti y el ecuatoriano Bastidas fueron los periodistas que realizaron la cobertura informativa en la Sierra Maestra, dos voceros del ejército libertador, dos convencidos de la causa de la revolución cubana. La policía de Batista asesino a Bastidas en La Habana y Masetti, luego del triunfo de la revolución, murió alzado en armas, en la montaña de Salta, su tierra natal
