Abstract

El Comité SETI (Search Extraterrestrial Intelligence)y CIESPAL han elaborado, respectivamente, declaraciones de principios para que se consideren en las Naciones Unidas. Una encuesta realizada a expertos en sistemas avanzados de propulsión,(1977), sobre la posibilidad de viajes espaciales, refuerza los argumentos que CIESPAL expuso para respaldar su propuesta. En este texto se trata sobre la propuesta del CIESPAL (Protocolo III) y se enfatiza en lo que dijo Sagan respecto a la obligación que tienen los científicos se popularizar la ciencia, para que el hombre común pueda distinguir entre las tesis científicas de SETI y la mitología de los ufólogos.
