Abstract

Durante más de treinta años, los humanos han utilizado la tecnología de radio para buscar evidencia de inteligencia extraterrestre -ETI-. Colectivamente, estos esfuerzos se conocen como SETI. Si SETI detecta exitosamente una civilización extraterrestre, surgirá la pregunta de si la humanidad debe intentar establecer comunicación con otra civilización y cómo, ¿Cuál debe ser el procedimiento para tomar la decisión? ¿Cuál debe ser el contenido del mensaje? ¿Quién debe decidir? Las mismas preguntas se pueden aplicar a las propuestas con respecto al envío de señales en ausencia de su detección.
